As the heavy metal photos I’d been collecting for my book started coming together, I was simultaneously beginning new work on metal. Combining the imagery with the medium created a double meaning-metal on metal.

When my dog passed away, the work took on a whole new, deeply personal meaning- one of loss, sadness, anger, death and nostalgic memories of him, the two world began to intertwine.

I set aside the ‘old metal’ works I had been creating and started fresh, spending a week alone in the studio without my dog. These pieces on metal reflect my journey through darkness, light, anger and sadness
